IN THE RESERVOIRS:

Fishing mainly for carp (mirror and common), barbel, wide-mouth bass, black bass and catfish.

IN THE RIVERS:

Mainly barbel, bass, pike and chub.

Most people head to the South of Portugal, between Lisbon and the Algarve, where coarse fishing is well known, or to the north for stocked lakes. This Central Region of Portugal, with its large reservoirs and clear rivers, has much to offer in the skillful hunt for fish.

IN THE RESERVOIRS:

We continuously monitor the water levels and locations in the reservoirs, as snagging can be a problem from rocky outcrops and hidden "village ruins".  And we are still discovering new spots where the fishing is good.

IN THE RIVERS:

We have fishing tackle for hire, but if you wish to bring your own then we recommend a good carp rod, strong reel, allowing good casting distance, decent mono or braid line.  Basic bolt-rig (nothing fancy needed) bottom or pop-up. Barbless hook sizes 2,4,6,8.
